COLOR CODING

Color-coding is the process of designating certain cleaning tools and processes by consistent color schemes.

Color-coded rotation labels, cooking tools, and cleaning tools provide an efficient way to maintain a focus on food safety.

It's purpose is the segregation of equipment, materials and procedures to prevent cross-infection and cross-contamination in the workplace & reduces confusion by bridging communication problems.

By means of the color-coding system, a cleaning worker would know that red signifies for use in raw meat areas only, & would act appropriately by using red cleaning tools. On the other hand, yellow tools may signify for use in rest rooms only.

Although there is no universal standard, the colors used must remain consistent for their tasks.

COLOR CODE EXAMPLE

RED

 For raw meat preparation areas
GREEN

For produce or fruit preparation
BLUE

For raw seafood preparation
YELLOW
